What is the mission of Chicago Women in Philanthropy?

Chicago Women in Philanthropy (CWIP) is a community of philanthropic, corporate-giving, and nonprofit women.  Our members are passionate about helping other women advance in society.  Our mission is to educate and encourage philanthropy by facilitating dialogue and uncommon connections that positively impact the lives of women and girls. 

What is CWIP's organizational structure?

CWIP is governed by a Board of Directors with diverse representation from both the philanthropic and nonprofit sectors. We operate through an active committee structure that includes Membership, Programs & Capacity Buildling, Communications, Annual Luncheon and Women's Mentoring and Leadership Development.

Who founded CWIP and when?

Founded in 1981 by Iris Krieg and Joy Beaton to create a safe space for women in the nonprofit arena, the organization is now celebrating 35 years of building a stronger philanthropic community.

Do I need to renew my membership every year? When do I need to do this?

Yes. CWIP's membership year is based on your individual anniversary date. You'll receive a renewal notification via e-mail.

When is the CWIP Annual meeting?

It is generally in August of every year. Check our Events page for the latest information. We also have educational programs and informal network events throughout the year.

to CWIP are tax-deductable to the extent
allowed by law.
