Committees

CWIP is only as strong and dynamic as our membership. Your leadership and active participation are vital to our organization's continued success.

Each one of CWIP's committees provides the opportunity for you to share your expertise, and to develop or sharpen the skills you need to be effective and thrive in the nonprofit sector. You will also have fun meeting intelligent and inspiring colleagues from organizations throughout the Chicago metro area. All of them are involved in philanthropy in some way and are dedicated to providing women and girls equitable opportunities for success.

To read more about the committees and find out how to get involved, read through the descriptions below!

Communications
Co-Chairs:

Caronina Grimble, Caronina@woodsfund.org

What we do:
We are the content creators behind CWIP's quarterly e-newsletter,
website, and social media. The committee promotes CWIP's agenda and events, and develops and implements the organization's communications and marketing strategy.

If you like to write, tweet or are a LinkedIn guru – we need you!  We are launching a virtual social media committee.  This is ideal for anyone who wants to make a difference, but has limited time.

Programs & Capacity Building Committee

Co-chairs:
Jennifer Mitchell, jennlmitchell@hotmail.com

Clare Butterfield, c.butterfield@iseif.org

What we do:

We are a dynamic, working group committed to programming that highlights women's and girls' issues, focused professional development and networking, and knowledge sharing between funders and nonprofit staff.  Each year, committee members attend four all-committee meetings, and participate in producing at least one of our events: formal programs in September, January and April, and Face to Face with Funders in June.

Lindsey Moorman, georgel794@gmail.com, 412.952.8090
Jodi Pellettiere,
jodi.pellettiere@quarles.com, 312.715.5063

What we do:
We make sure CWIP members receive excellent value for their membership. We host fun and informal networking events, organize the Annual Meeting, produce a members-only membership directory, and oversee the annual membership campaign. The committee also offers discounts to CWIP's sponsored events and other professional development opportunities.

Annual Luncheon Committee

Co-chairs:
Paula Danoff, pdanoff@evanstonartcenter.org, 847.475.5300 ext. 206

Bintou Sy, bintou.sy@gmail.com, 312.860.1295

What we do:

The Annual Luncheon Committee plans and implements the annual luncheon with the purpose of creating awareness about CWIP's mission and accomplishments, encouraging participation and recruiting new members. At the luncheon, we also present the Making a Difference award to a woman who has made a significant impact in the field of philanthropy.

Although previous event planning experience is helpful, it's not essential. We're looking for members with fresh ideas, strong organizational skills, and are excited about representing CWIP and our mission. While our work is year round, the majority of it occurs in the 3-4 months leading up to the luncheon.

Women's Leadership & Mentoring Program Committee

Co-chairs:
Sheila Murphy,
smurphygh@gmail.com
Debra Walker Johnson,
dwalkerjohnson@gmail.com, 312.202.3653

What we do:

We foster women as leaders, support women who are building their nonprofit careers, and encourage best practices in the nonprofit sector. The program does this by pairing experienced nonprofit professionals as mentors with up-and-coming, career-oriented women (mentees) in a one-year mentorship focused on a shared commitment to the nonprofit sector.
